Aephanemer
Founded in Toulouse in 2014 around guitarist Martin Hamiche, Aephanemer develops a melodic death metal that blends symphonic arrangements, guitar lines rooted in Scandinavian melodeath and acoustic or folk touches. The project first took the form of an instrumental EP, Know Thyself (2014), before becoming a band with the arrival of Marion Bascoul on vocals and rhythm guitar and Mickaël Bonnevialle on drums. Aephanemer then released Memento Mori in 2016 on Primeval Records, featuring lyrics by Marion Bascoul and music built around the alternation of growled vocals, bright melodies and fast rhythms. The second album, Prokopton, appeared in 2019 and accompanied an increase in live activity in France and abroad, including selection to represent France at the Wacken Metal Battle in 2018 and several dates on European and Canadian tours. After signing with Napalm Records, Aephanemer further broadened its palette on A Dream of Wilderness (2021) and continued that trajectory with Utopie (2025). Over its career, Aephanemer has established itself on the modern metal scene with a formula that combines death metal intensity, tightly structured melodic writing and orchestral dressing while retaining a straightforward song format.
