Vladimir Cauchemar
A masked figure of the French electronic scene, Vladimir Cauchemar has, since the late 2010s, developed an aesthetic where skeleton imagery and references to early music mix with club-oriented productions. A producer and DJ based in France and associated with the Parisian label Ed Banger Records, he gained notice for instrumental tracks built around flute lines, baroque-leaning motifs and rhythms drawn from trap and hip‑hop. His songs circulate both within rap networks and in electro circles, leading him to multiply collaborations with vocalists from the contemporary francophone scene and to perform across clubs, festivals and more rap-focused contexts. On stage his performance relies on a strongly embodied presence via a skull mask, sets conceived for dancing and an emphasis on contrasts between simple melodies, massive bass and tempo breaks. This hybrid aesthetic lets him navigate multiple audiences while remaining identifiable by a sonic signature centred on the flute and variations of repetitive themes.
