JK Flesh

Under the name JK Flesh, Justin Broadrick from Birmingham pursues a distinct electronic side of his work. The solo project has been active since 2012 but traces back to experiments in the 1990s, notably alongside Kevin Martin in Techno Animal. Where Godflesh or Jesu lean more on metal and rock structures, JK Flesh explores a terrain of industrial techno, dub techno, slow bass‑driven music, noise and drum‑and‑bass rhythms, with a dense, abrasive and often minimal sound. The first album, Posthuman, appeared in 2012 and still featured very heavy guitars, before Broadrick steered the project toward sparser electronic forms on Rise Above (2016) and New Horizon (2018). That trajectory continued with Depersonalization (2020) and New Religions Old Rules and Sewer Bait (2022), where saturated textures, deep bass and repetitive constructions take precedence. JK Flesh releases music on Avalanche Recordings as well as Electric Deluxe, Hospital Productions and Downwards, moving between techno, industrial and experimental scenes and collaborating with or sharing projects with artists such as Orphx, Echologist, G36 and Prurient.
