Younghearted
Younghearted formed in Finland in spring 2015 around Reeta Huotarinen, Atte Ranta and Emil Korkiakoski, who met at the sports high school Mäkelänrinteen lukio in Helsinki. The trio quickly opted to write their songs in Finnish after initially considering an English repertoire, and they fit within an indie-pop idiom defined by crisp melodies, prominent guitars and vocals, and straightforward songwriting. Younghearted released its first single, «Hyvä näin», in 2015, followed by «Hetkeksi», which helped establish them on the Finnish pop scene. Their debut album Nuorisydän appeared in 2016. After a stint with 325 Media and a collaboration with Universal Music, Younghearted signed with Warner Music Finland at the end of the same year, marking a new phase in their career. The group developed a broader pop aesthetic while retaining an accessible, melodic song format, as demonstrated by the 2019 album Vapaa. In 2022 Younghearted took part in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, Finland’s selection for Eurovision, with the song «Sun numero». From the start, the band has operated within contemporary Finnish pop, where indie impulses, luminous textures and a focus on memorable choruses remain central to their identity.
