Yasmine Hamdan
Yasmine Hamdan is a key figure in contemporary alternative Arab music. Emerging in the late 1990s with the electro‑indie duo Soapkills, which she founded in Beirut with Zeid Hamdan, she helped redefine the sound of a post‑war generation by blending electronic modernity with traditional heritage. Based in Paris since 2005, she collaborated with Mirwais (Madonna’s producer) on the Y.A.S. project, resulting in the 2009 album Arabology — a bold, elegant record tailored for the clubs. As a solo artist, Yasmine Hamdan has established herself as a singer‑songwriter and producer with an unclassifiable style that spans experimental pop, electro, soul and reworked Arabic music. Her mesmerising voice and poetic world have earned her international recognition, fuelled by global tours and numerous artistic collaborations. Between modernity and memory, Yasmine Hamdan embodies a living bridge between cultures, eras and emotions.
