Vibronics

Active since 1995 in Leicester, England, Vibronics is rooted in the UK reggae and sound‑system dub tradition, centred around Steve Vibronics and Richi Rootz. The project emerged within the late‑1990s British dub scene, first noticed during the Egg Experience ’97 nights, before releasing its initial tracks on Zion Train’s Universal Egg label. Vibronics’ sound relies on a dense, digital dub crafted for sessions, featuring heavy bass, pronounced echoes and an aesthetic directly linked to the scenes frequented by sound systems such as Jah Shaka, Iration Steppas and Aba Shanti‑I. Documented discographic highlights include Outernational Dub Conference Volume One, recorded with Jah Free in 1998, followed by Dub Italizer (2000), Dubliftment (2004), UK Dub Story (2008), The French Connection (2012) and The Return Of Vibronics (2015). Over the years Vibronics has also developed its own label, SCOOPS, and collaborated with numerous singers and MCs from the roots and dub worlds, following a trajectory faithful to the exchanges between studio, sound systems and European stages.
