Turf
Born in the mid-1990s on Buenos Aires' rock scene, Turf centers on singer and guitarist Joaquín Levinton and belongs to the wave of Argentine alternative rock shaped by britpop and power pop influences. From the start, Turf stood out in the capital's clubs for a blend of melodic guitars, prominent keyboards and lyrics often tinged with irony or disillusion. The debut album «Una pila de vida» (1997) established this direct, melodic register, followed by «Siempre libre» (1999) and «Turfshow» (2001), which confirmed a songwriting focus on catchy choruses and an accessible pop‑rock aesthetic marked by vocal harmonies and danceable rhythms. Throughout the 2000s Turf toured Argentina and several Latin American countries before a hiatus and split during which members pursued other local projects. The band reformed in the 2010s, resumed recording new material and reappeared on major stages and festivals, retaining a sound oriented toward rock songs, simple structures and collective energy. Turf thus continues a trajectory where Argentine rock, anglophone references and Buenos Aires' urban pop culture intersect.
