No Te Va Gustar
Formed in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1994, No Te Va Gustar is part of the Rioplatense rock wave, blending Spanish-language rock, reggae, ska, and references to Uruguayan murga and candombe. Centered around singer and guitarist Emiliano Brancciari, the band gradually evolved into a large ensemble with a horn section and keyboards, a hallmark of No Te Va Gustar’s sound both on stage and in the studio. After beginnings in the independent circuits of Montevideo and Buenos Aires, their recording career began with "Sólo de noche" in 1999, followed by "Este fuerte viento que sopla" in 2002 and "Aunque cueste ver el sol" in 2004, where a mix of melodic rock, syncopated rhythms, and lyrics focused on urban everyday life, emotional ties, and social tensions took shape. The albums "Todo es tan inflamable" (2006), "Por lo menos hoy" (2010), and "El calor del pleno invierno" (2012) accompanied the expansion of No Te Va Gustar’s audience across Latin America and later Spain, driven by extensive touring. With "El tiempo otra vez avanza" (2014), "Suenan las alarmas" (2017), the album of reinterpretations "Otras canciones" (2019), and "Luz" (2021), No Te Va Gustar consolidated an aesthetic where rock ballads, reggae-leaning tempos, and more stripped-down arrangements coexist, often in dialogue with artists from other Latin American scenes.
