Tom Gaebel

Born in 1975 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and raised in Ibbenbüren, Tom Gaebel aligns with the crooner-jazz and big band tradition. After studying jazz vocals in the Netherlands, he emerged on the German-speaking scene in the mid-2000s, accompanied by a large ensemble that became the main vehicle for his work. His debut album “Introducing: Myself” (2005), followed by “Good Life” (2007), established him in a style combining swing, orchestral jazz and orchestral pop, with a repertoire of original compositions and renditions of standards. Gaebel’s singing, primarily in English and occasionally in German, is characterized by precise diction and melodic lines reminiscent of the American tradition of the 1950s and 1960s, while incorporating elements of film music and light popular song. Alongside his studio recordings, he frequently performs with his big band in clubs, concert halls and at festivals, and regularly appears on German television programs where his arranged swing for large ensemble is often extended into a live orchestral format.
