Tim Knol

Born in Hoorn, the Netherlands, in 1989, Tim Knol emerged on the Dutch scene as a singer‑songwriter blending folk, pop and Americana, with strong ties to the songwriting tradition of the 1960s and 1970s. After starting out as a teenager in the band Be Right Back, he turned to a solo career in the late 2000s, signed with Excelsior Recordings and gained attention on Dutch stages, notably at the Noorderslag festival in 2010. His self‑titled debut, “Tim Knol”, was released in 2010, followed by “Days” (2011) and “Soldier On” (2013) — three albums that established a world of acoustic ballads, melodic folk‑rock and subtle country influences. After a period of heavy touring and side projects, he returned with “Cut the Wire” in 2018, where his songwriting grew more restrained and nuanced, then released “Happy Hour” (2020) and “Lightyears Better” (2022), continuing that more rootsy approach. Alternating between full band lineups and more intimate formats, Tim Knol has developed a repertoire focused on voice, guitar and spare arrangements, appearing in clubs, venues and festivals across the Netherlands and beyond.
