Twitching Tongues

Formed in Los Angeles in 2009 around brothers Colin and Taylor Young, Twitching Tongues emerged at the intersection of Californian hardcore and heavy metal. Their songwriting blends groove metal, doom, metalcore, slow sludge passages and gothic overtones. Colin Young’s deep vocals, paired with thick riffs and tempos that alternate between weighty heaviness and hardcore bursts, give Twitching Tongues a distinctive identity within the American metal and hardcore scenes. After the EP I & I (Insane and Inhumane) in 2011 and Preacher Man in 2012, the band released four studio albums: Sleep Therapy (2012), In Love There Is No Law (2013), Disharmony (2015) and Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred (2018). Across these records, they developed a darker, more melodic approach while remaining tied to the physical energy of hardcore. The group has toured the United States and internationally, including alongside heavy metal and hardcore acts such as Harm’s Way. After a period of hiatus, Twitching Tongues resumed performing in 2023 and issued a newly remixed and remastered version of Sleep Therapy.
