Thomas Bergersen

Born in Trondheim, Norway, in 1980, Thomas Bergersen early on developed a compositional style oriented toward symphonic music and expansive orchestral forms, before broadening his work to a hybrid aesthetic that blends strings, brass, choirs, piano and electronic textures. He began in the demoscene under the name Lioz and later moved into music production for picture. With Nick Phoenix he founded the duo Two Steps From Hell, associated with trailer and library music; several public albums followed, beginning with Invincible in 2010, then Archangel in 2011 and SkyWorld in 2012. At the same time Bergersen built a solo discography that emphasizes a more melodic and narrative approach, with Illusions (2011), Sun (2014), and the albums American Dream (2018) and Seven (2019). From 2020 he embarked on the Humanity series, released in multiple chapters, including Chapter I and Chapter II in 2020, Chapter III and Chapter IV in 2021, and Chapter V in 2023. His career also includes a foray into trance, notably with Boom Jinx on the track Remember September in 2007. Between orchestral music, classical crossover and cinematic writing, Thomas Bergersen occupies a space between the concept album, film music and the live stage.
