Two Steps from Hell

Founded in Los Angeles in 2006, Two Steps from Hell brings together Norwegian composer Thomas Bergersen and English composer Nick Phoenix around a catalogue originally conceived for the trailer industry. The project sits within production music, featuring orchestral and choral writing that is often expansive, dramatic and rhythmic, enriched with electronic elements and structures close to popular music. The duo compose separately but release under a single name; their work is distributed via Extreme Music for synchronization in film, television and video games, and has accompanied campaigns for Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Trek and Interstellar. After several albums aimed at industry professionals, Two Steps from Hell gradually opened its repertoire to the public with Invincible (2010) and Archangel (2011), followed by SkyWorld (2012), their first commercially released album largely made up of new material. The public discography grew with Battlecry (2015), Unleashed (2017), Dragon (2019) and Myth (2022). First appearing on the symphonic stage with a concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2013, Two Steps from Hell also toured Europe in 2022 before Bergersen and Phoenix announced their split in 2024.
