Thelma Plum

Anchored between Brisbane, where she grew up, and Delungra, a small rural town in New South Wales tied to her family history, Thelma Plum develops a singer‑songwriter approach that blends indie pop, folk and alternative pop in a direct format focused on voice and storytelling. A Gamilaraay artist, Thelma Plum first gained attention in Australia in the early 2010s, notably through the triple j Unearthed scene, before evolving her sound from stripped‑back folk‑pop to broader productions without losing the autobiographical quality of her lyrics. Her songs regularly address identity, family ties, love, anger and the effects of everyday racism, with an intimate yet frank tone. After several early singles and short formats, Thelma Plum released the album Better in Blak in 2019 and I’m Sorry, Now Say It Back in 2024. Present on both pop and alternative stages as well as in more acoustic settings, she frames her career within contemporary Australian pop attentive to questions of culture, heritage and belonging.
