Tricky
A leading figure on the trip-hop scene, Tricky was born in 1968 in Bristol as Adrian Thaws. The son of a Jamaican father and an Anglo-Ghanaian mother, Tricky has always claimed his mixed heritage while searching for his own musical voice. In the early 1990s he collaborated with the trip-hop group Massive Attack, though he never became a full member. His first EPs were released in 1993, but it was not until 1995 that his debut solo album, Maxinquaye, appeared — the first of many albums, including the well-known Angels With Dirty Faces (1998) and Blowback (2001). Through club nights, concerts and studio work he built an international reputation, frequently working with artists such as Björk and composing soundtracks for several films. He also appears in the film The Fifth Element alongside Bruce Willis. In 2013 Tricky released his tenth solo album, False Idols, and once again toured the world.
