TotorRo
Formed in 2008 in Brittany, between Perros-Guirec, Lannion and Rennes, TotorRo brings together Christophe Le Flohic, Jonathan Siche, Xavier Rosé and Bertrand James around an instrumental post-rock that also intersects with math rock, indie music and a melodic writing style that is more direct than contemplative. Early on, the band experimented with guttural vocals before abandoning them in favor of a collective approach without a frontman, built on interlacing guitars, a very mobile bass and nervous drumming. TotorRo began circulating on the French independent scene in the early 2010s and significantly broadened its audience with Home Alone in 2014 and Come to Mexico in 2016 — two records that established an identity of rhythmic tension, luminous motifs and carefully constructed buildups. Having played festivals such as Les Trans Musicales and Les Vieilles Charrues and toured outside France, TotorRo put the project on pause in 2018. During that hiatus the members pursued other musical activities, before announcing a return to the stage in 2025 and the release of Sofa So Good the same year, recorded in conditions close to a live performance.
