The Subs

Trained in Ghent, Belgium around Jeroen De Pessemier and Wiebe Loccufier, then expanded to a trio with Martijn Ravesloot, The Subs are part of an electro vein marked by electropunk, techno and an abrasive, direct and decidedly offbeat club approach. The project emerged in the mid-2000s with tracks such as 'You Make Me Spill', 'Substracktion' and 'Fuck That Shit', before taking on a broader dimension with 'Kiss My Trance' in 2008. This period led to a first album, Subculture (2008), laying the foundations of a sound blending dance music rhythms, rock tension and upfront choruses. The Subs continued with Decontrol (2011), then Hologram (2014), where the band evolved its writing toward a more melodic production without abandoning its electronic grounding. Their path also includes several collaborations, notably with Party Harders on 'The Pope of Dope', then with Selah Sue and Tom Barman on 'Zanna'. Present in clubs as well as festivals, The Subs circulated on Belgian and European stages with a live format that accompanied their notoriety in electro circles. The Subs' trajectory thus remains linked to the meeting of rave culture, punk energy and electronic pop.
