Summer Salt

Based in Austin, Texas, Summer Salt has been crafting an indie pop sound since the early 2010s, tinged with surf rock, soft rock, and bossa nova influences. Centered around singer-guitarist Matthew Terry and drummer Eugene Chung, the band operates with a tight core lineup, augmented on the road by various touring musicians, notably on bass. After several self-released EPs that circulated widely online and showcased a taste for light melodies and vocal harmonies, Summer Salt issued its first full-length, Happy Camper (2018), followed by Feel Good (2020), Sequoia Moon (2021), and Campanita (2023). Their writing favors short songs, often built around clean guitars, supple rhythms, and themes drawn from everyday life, relationships, and being on the move. Active on the American indie scene through regular touring and performances in clubs as well as specialized festivals, Summer Salt has, album after album, solidified an aesthetic where nostalgia, summery atmospheres, and a gentle approach to pop intersect without flashy effects.
