Spiders
Formed in Gothenburg in 2010, Spiders brings together around Ann-Sofie Hoyles on vocals and John Hoyles on guitar a hard rock approach nourished by classic rock, garage rock and a strongly marked punk background. The band comes together after the arrival of John Hoyles, who has passed through Witchcraft and Troubled Horse, then completes its line-up with Matteo Gambacorta on bass and Axel Sjöberg, replaced from 2011 by Ricard Harryson; Olle Griphammar then joins Spiders on bass in 2013. From its beginnings, Spiders has stood out on the Swedish rock scene with an initial appearance at Way Out West Festival and a series of singles and EPs published in 2011. Their first album, Flash Point, was released in 2012, followed by Shake Electric in 2014, then Killer Machine in 2018. Spiders' recent discography also includes Sharp Objects, published in 2025. Spiders' sound remains tied to direct, taut and melodic rock, built on nervy guitars, a dry rhythm section and a voice that retains a raw energy without leaving the song format. Accustomed to European tours, Spiders has shared the bill with bands like Graveyard, Kvelertak, Blood Ceremony, Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats or Avatarium, in a circuit where retro hard rock, heavy psych and contemporary garage rock cross.
