The Casualties
Born in the early 1990s within the New York punk scene, The Casualties continue the tradition of street punk and hardcore punk influenced by 1980s Britain, with a street aesthetic and blunt lyrics about social precarity, urban violence and political tensions. Formed in New York in 1990, the band first issued demos and EPs before releasing their debut album For the Punx in 1997, followed by Underground Army in 1998 and Stay Out of Order in 2000, which established The Casualties on the international independent circuit. Their discography continued with Die Hards (2001), On the Front Line (2004) and its Spanish version En La Linea Del Frente (2005), Under Attack (2006), We Are All We Have (2009), Resistance (2012) and Chaos Sound (2016), alongside regular touring in the Americas, Europe and Japan. Marked by numerous lineup changes, the band saw singer David Rodriguez replace Jorge Herrera in 2017 and release Written in Blood in 2018, extending The Casualties' formula of shouted choruses, fast tempo and a raw sound rooted in the New York punk scene and its international offshoots.
