Skiantos

Born in Bologna in the mid-1970s, Skiantos formed around Freak Antoni and Fabio Dandy Bestia Testoni within the DAMS context and the scene linked to the 1977 movement. Their music blends Italian punk rock, early new wave, and what the group helped establish under the name rock demenziale, with absurd, satirical, and deliberately offbeat lyrics, driven by a strong taste for stage provocation. From Inascoltable in 1977, then MONO tono in 1978 and Kinotto in 1979, Skiantos established themselves in Bologna's first punk wave, as much through their songs as through performances where action and subversion count as much as the concert itself. After Pesissimo! in 1980 and an initial breakup in 1982, Skiantos reformed with Ti spalmo la crema in 1984 and then durably relaunched their career with Non c’è gusto in Italia ad essere intelligenti in 1987. Over the years, the band continued between rock, satire and oblique songs, with albums such as Signore dei dischi (1992), Saluti da Cortina (1993), Doppia dose (1999), Sogno improbabile (2005) and Dio ci deve delle spiegazioni (2009). The death of Freak Antoni in 2014 marked a turning point, but Skiantos resumed the stage from 2016, extending a repertoire still closely tied to the history of Italian punk and the underground.
