RPWL
Born in Freising, Bavaria, RPWL formed in 1997 around Yogi Lang and Kalle Wallner, in the wake of Violet District and an early repertoire tied to Pink Floyd. That influence remains audible in their expansive atmospheres, singing guitars and taste for progressive structures. RPWL operates in a register of progressive rock and art rock where accessible melodies, atmospheric passages and more narrative developments intersect. The German band released God Has Failed in 2000, followed by Trying to Kiss the Sun (2002), Stock (2003) and World Through My Eyes (2005), featuring Ray Wilson on the track "Roses." Despite several lineup changes over the years, RPWL has stayed centered on the Lang–Wallner duo, later joined by Marc Turiaux on drums in 2008 and Markus Grützner on bass in 2022. Their discography alternates studio albums and live recordings — including 9 (2007), The RPWL Experience (2008), the concept albums Beyond Man and Time (2012) and Wanted (2014), and later Tales from Outer Space (2019) and Crime Scene (2023). Since its beginnings RPWL has been active on the European progressive scene, while at times dedicating live work to Pink Floyd's repertoire.
