Ray Wilson
Shaped by the Scottish rock scene, Ray Wilson was born in 1968 in Dumfries and began his career in the early 1990s with the band Guaranteed Pure, known for alternative rock with grunge overtones. He rose to prominence in 1994 when he became the singer of Stiltskin, a band associated with a dark, melodic rock sound, before being recruited by Genesis in 1996 to handle vocals on the 1997 album “Calling All Stations” and the subsequent tour. After that progressive chapter, Wilson refocused on personal projects blending rock, pop and acoustic ballads, first with the group Cut_ around the album “Millionairhead” (1999), then under his own name with “Change” (2003) and “The Next Best Thing” (2004), which established a more introspective style centered on songwriting and voice. The records “Propaganda Man” (2008), “Chasing Rainbows” (2013), “Song for a Friend” (2016) and “Makes Me Think of Home” (2016) continue this trajectory between melodic rock, progressive influences and more intimate formats. Dividing his time between studio work, European tours and reinterpretations of the Genesis and Stiltskin catalogue, Ray Wilson occupies a distinctive place between the heritage of British rock and singer‑songwriter craft.
