Ringworm

Formed in Cleveland, Ohio in the early 1990s around singer James 'Human Furnace' Bulloch, Ringworm evolves at the border of hardcore punk, original metalcore and thrash metal, with a dry, aggressive and dark sound that sits within the American metallic hardcore scene of that era. After an initial phase closed by The Promise in 1993, Ringworm splits up then briefly reforms in 1995 before resuming regular activity from 1998. The band's discography then runs from Birth Is Pain in 2001 to Justice Replaced by Revenge in 2005, The Venomous Grand Design in 2007, Scars in 2011, then Hammer of the Witch in 2014, Snake Church in 2016, Death Becomes My Voice in 2019 and Seeing Through Fire in 2023. Over the years Ringworm has maintained an approach based on razor-sharp riffs, hardcore-inspired accelerations and a tension shaped by 1980s thrash, without veering into the more melodic codes of contemporary metalcore. Having undergone several lineup changes, the band remains associated with Cleveland and with a circuit mixing hardcore clubs, metal venues and North American and European tours, with regular ties to bands from these nearby scenes.
