Pupo

Born in 1955 in Ponticino, Tuscany, Enzo Ghinazzi became known as Pupo in the late 1970s on the Italian song scene. Pupo established himself in a register of melodic pop and variety, marked by simple choruses, sentimental ballads and lyrics focused on emotional relationships and everyday life. His first record hits in the late 1970s and early 1980s firmly placed him in the Italian media landscape, with regular appearances on variety shows and participation in widely viewed television events. Over the decades Pupo has alternated roles as singer, songwriter and television presenter, while developing a career beyond Italy, notably in Eastern Europe where he adapted part of his repertoire into several languages. Pupo’s trajectory remains tied to the aesthetics of Italian popular song, between uptempo, dance‑adjacent numbers and more intimate pieces, carried by a readily identifiable voice and a direct rapport with concert audiences and TV viewers.
