Pulled Apart By Horses

Formed in Leeds, West Yorkshire in 2008, Pulled Apart By Horses sits in an alternative rock vein at the crossroads of garage punk, noise rock, post-hardcore, and math rock. The band emerged onto the local scene with a nervous, angular, dense sound, built on abrasive riffs, marked tempo changes, and an intensity that stays away from metal while retaining a strong physical charge. After the first singles 'Meat Balloon' (2008) and 'I Punched A Lion In The Throat' (2009), Pulled Apart By Horses released their self-titled debut in 2010, followed by Tough Love (2012), Blood (2014), The Haze (2017) and Reality Cheques (2022). Across these records, the band has evolved its writing toward sometimes more direct formats, without abandoning the jagged structures and rhythmic tension that define its identity. Pulled Apart By Horses has toured the United Kingdom and Europe, notably sharing the bill with Foals, Biffy Clyro, Blood Red Shoes, Future of the Left, or Glassjaw. The lineup has also undergone several changes, with the departure of drummer Lee Vincent in 2014, replaced by Tommy Davidson, then the departure of guitarist James Brown in 2022, while Robert Lee moves from bass to guitar and Joseph Thorpe joins the ensemble on bass.
