Rhapsody of Fire
Born in Trieste in 1993 around Alex Staropoli and Luca Turilli, initially under the names Thundercross and then Rhapsody, Rhapsody of Fire developed a symphonic power metal with a strong neoclassical dimension, combining the speed of heavy metal, orchestral arrangements and songwriting inspired by film scores and fantasy imagery. The band's first period was built with Fabio Lione on vocals from 1995 and a series of albums that became central to its discography, from Legendary Tales (1997) to Power of the Dragonflame (2002), where an aesthetic based on choirs, conceptual narratives and epic atmospheres was asserted. In 2006 the group adopted the name Rhapsody of Fire following trademark issues, shortly before Triumph or Agony (2006). The collaboration with Christopher Lee on Symphony of Enchanted Lands II: The Dark Secret (2004), and on other releases through From Chaos to Eternity (2011), accompanied this narrative dimension. After Luca Turilli's departure in 2011, Rhapsody of Fire continued under Staropoli's direction, with several lineup changes. Since 2016 Giacomo Voli has handled the vocals, and the band opened a new recording chapter with The Eighth Mountain (2019), Glory for Salvation (2021) and Challenge the Wind (2024). Today Rhapsody of Fire comprises Alex Staropoli, Roberto De Micheli, Alessandro Sala, Giacomo Voli and Paolo Marchesich.
