Nachtmahr

Launched in Vienna in 2007 by Thomas Rainer, who is also active in L'Âme Immortelle and was previously in Siechtum, Nachtmahr is a solo project built around a dry, frontal EBM at the crossroads of techno and electro‑industrial. Nachtmahr first made an impact in club circuits with the EP Kunst Ist Krieg in 2007, and then with the album Feuer Frei in 2008, whose rhythmic mechanics, repetitive motifs and martial tension quickly defined its identity. Thomas Rainer continued with Alle Lust Will Ewigkeit (2009), Semper Fidelis (2010), Veni Vidi Vici (2012), Feindbild (2014), Kampfbereit (2016), Antithese (2019), Flamme (2020), Stellungskrieg (2021) and Verboten! (2024). Across these records Nachtmahr remains faithful to a direct songcraft designed for the stage and the dancefloor, with a dense, percussive and deliberately unvarnished sound. The discography also includes several shorter formats—Katharsis (2008), Mädchen in Uniform (2010), Can You Feel the Beat? (2011), Widerstand and Gehorsam (2018), and Beweg dich! (2021)—which sustain its regular presence in the dark electro and industrial scene.
