Monsieur Periné
Born in Bogotá, Monsieur Periné formed around singer Catalina García and musician Santiago Prieto, the core of a Colombian project that operates between a central duo and an expanded on-stage ensemble. Monsieur Periné mixes acoustic pop, jazz, swing and Latin song with rhythms of cumbia, salsa and bolero, favoring flexible arrangements and fluid melodies. After initially circulating on Colombia’s independent scene in the late 2000s, the group released Hecho a Mano in 2012 and Caja de Música in 2015, where the songwriting gained breadth without abandoning that hybrid foundation. Encanto Tropical (2018) extended this move toward a more open pop, while Bolero Apocalíptico (2023) in places refocuses the project on more romantic, orchestrated forms. Anchored by Catalina García’s voice and Santiago Prieto’s compositional work, Monsieur Periné has also established a steady presence on festival stages across Latin America, the United States and Europe, with appearances at Lollapalooza, Vive Latino, Rock in Rio and Austin City Limits, among others.
