Molly Pettersson Hammar
Born in Umeå, Sweden in 1995, Molly Pettersson Hammar, also active under the name Molly Hammar, has since the early 2010s developed a repertoire between pop, dance-pop and contemporary R&B. She first gained attention in 2011 in the Swedish edition of Idol, where she reached fourth place, before widening her visibility with two appearances at Melodifestivalen, in 2015 with I'll Be Fine and in 2016 with Hunger. After these early singles, Molly Pettersson Hammar evolved her writing toward a softer pop and a purer R&B, a shift perceptible on Liberate in 2016 and then on the EP SEX in 2018, released after her transition from the full name Molly Pettersson Hammar to Molly Hammar. Over the years she alternates solo tracks and collaborations, notably with Sondr, Nause, Kim Cesarion, Julie Bergan, AWA and Bob Sinclar, while also contributing to songwriting, with a notable credit on Walk on Water by Ira Losco in 2016. Her discography then built up with a sequence of singles, among which Blossom in 2018, Words in 2019, Shortcuts (I Can’t Wait) in 2019, Alone in 2020 and Love Me Blind in 2021, in an aesthetic that blends soulful vocals, pop refrains and contemporary productions calibrated for both live performance and radio.
