Nick Höppner

Born in Germany and active for several years in the United Kingdom before settling in Berlin, Nick Höppner has built a career between house and techno, with musical writing attentive to groove, textures and the progression of a set. A DJ since the early 2000s, he initially rooted himself in the British scene before moving closer to the Berghain and Panorama Bar environment, where he became one of the residents while also taking on roles at Ostgut Ton and in the club’s booking. In his productions Höppner develops a flexible, detail-focused club aesthetic—clean rhythms, warm basses, discreet acid touches and occasional borrowings from disco or spare electronic pop. His discography notably includes the album Folk (2015), which broadens this framework toward more melodic forms without leaving the dancefloor anchor. Both in his DJ sets and his tracks he works with long transitions and shifts in atmosphere, ranging from deep house to kinetic techno and brighter sequences, all conceived for clubs rather than spectacle.
