MaRLo

Born in Amsterdam as Marlo Hoogstraten and later based in Australia, MaRLo has developed since the late 2000s a career focused on trance, spanning club formats, vocal trance and a more direct approach tailored to large stages. He emerged with releases such as “Ula” and “Alpha” in 2009, then moved onto labels like Armada, Spinnin’ and A State of Trance with tracks including “Megalodon” and “Showgrounds” in 2012, followed by “Visions” (2013), “Poseidon” (2014) and “Atlantis” (2015). His writing blends clear melodic lines, highly tense build-ups and drier rhythmic impacts, regularly featuring vocals — for example “The Dreamers” with Jano, “Hold It Together” with Christina Novelli, “Whisper” with HALIENE, and “This I Vow” with Armin van Buuren in 2020. MaRLo has also produced numerous remixes for Ferry Corsten, Gaia, W&W and Solarstone, and has structured part of his work around his label Reaching Altitude. On stage he moves between festivals and specialist events such as A State of Trance, Transmission, Creamfields, Ultra and Luminosity Beach Festival, presenting a contemporary trance aesthetic that alternates melodic tension, vocal choruses and more massive sequences.
