Gareth Emery
Born in Southampton in the south of England, Gareth Emery rose to prominence in the early 2000s on the British trance scene with productions that combined melodic trance, progressive house and, over time, more pop-oriented electronic songwriting. His first breakthrough came under the alias GTR with the track Mistral in 2002, before he established his own name as a producer and DJ on club and international festival circuits. Based for a time in Manchester, he launched the Garuda label and club nights there after co-founding Five AM — two ventures that reinforced his roots in trance culture. His discography under his own name includes the albums Northern Lights (2010), Drive (2014), 100 Reasons to Live (2016), The Lasers (2020) and Analog (2022), the latter marking a greater move toward synth-pop textures and more direct song formats. Emery has also pursued numerous vocal collaborations, notably with Christina Novelli, HALIENE, Ashley Wallbridge and Armin van Buuren, while retaining a sonic core focused on expansive melodies, progressive builds and clean production designed for both listening and the club.
