My Sleeping Karma

Formed in Aschaffenburg, Germany, My Sleeping Karma emerged in 2005 around Seppi, Steffen and Matte, formerly of The Great Escape, before the arrival of keyboardist Norman established the band as a permanent quartet. Initially conceived as a side project, My Sleeping Karma quickly developed its own identity, almost entirely instrumental, at the crossroads of stoner rock, space rock, psychedelic rock and post-rock. The first album, My Sleeping Karma, was released in 2006, initially self-produced; after gaining attention—most notably at the Swamp Room Festival in Munich—the band joined the Elektrohasch label. With Satya in 2008, My Sleeping Karma refined a writing approach based on repetition, dynamic variations and meditative atmospheres punctuated by heavier surges. This direction continued on Tri (2010), Soma (2012) and Moksha (2015), records that also extend an imagery inspired by spiritual and philosophical concepts from Asia. On stage, My Sleeping Karma operates within the European networks linked to the stoner and psychedelic scenes, delivering sets built around continuity, gradual build-ups, cyclical bass lines, effects-laden guitars and layers of keyboards.
