Marc Piñol
Active in Barcelona since the 1990s, Marc Piñol has worked concurrently as a music columnist—beginning in 1994—and as a DJ, which he started in 1997. He made his early appearances at the Nitsa Club, where he was resident from 1999 to 2013, within a Barcelona scene marked by exchanges between house, techno, disco, new wave and other electronic forms. His sets reflect that spirit of openness, linking straightforward club tracks with more oblique selections—between dark rhythms, touches of off-kilter trance and reworked pop references. On the production side he later gravitated toward Hivern Discs, the label founded by John Talabot, where he released remixes and his own tracks. His trajectory also includes releases and edits on the sublabel Hiverned and a collaboration with Hugo Capablanca. Between club culture, critical work and production, Marc Piñol has developed a sustained career rooted in the Barcelona scene and in an electronic music practice that moves freely across several aesthetics.
