Marcel Fengler

Active on the Berlin techno scene since the early 2000s, Marcel Fengler has established himself as a DJ and producer at the intersection of techno, electro and more ambient or broken-sounding textures. Originally from Fürstenwalde in the former GDR, he early on gravitated toward the circle that would give rise to Berghain and became one of the club’s regular residents, shaping a constantly evolving mixing style that is at once percussive, melodic and dynamically contrasted. From 2007 he released several maxi singles on the Ostgut Ton label, which positioned his signature between functional techno and more introspective detours; he later produced the mix CD “Berghain 05” in 2011 and the album “Fokus” in 2013. In parallel he founded his own label, Index Marcel Fengler (IMF), in 2011 — a platform for his productions and for artists aligned with his aesthetic. Both his sets and IMF releases continue this pursuit of a balance between rhythmic rigor, harmonic tension and more abstract textures, applied equally in Berlin clubs and on international stages.
