L.A. Salami

Based in London, L.A. Salami, born Lookman Adekunle Salami, has been developing a songwriter’s body of work since the early 2010s that intersects folk, indie rock and blues-tinged reminiscences. After several EPs that gradually established him on the British independent scene, he released his first full-length album in 2016, “Dancing with Bad Grammar”, marked by very narrative songwriting and acoustic guitar placed at the forefront. “The City of Bootmakers” (2018) and “The Cause of Doubt & a Reason to Have Faith” (2020) continued this approach, blending spare folk ballads, more electric tracks and passages approaching spoken word, where L.A. Salami gives ample space to urban stories, social observation and more intimate introspection. In 2022, “Ottoline” carried on this trajectory, refining an aesthetic that ranges from folk song to denser arrangements while maintaining a strong focus on the lyric. On stage L.A. Salami performs solo or with accompaniment, mainly in the UK and across Europe, in a format that highlights voice, guitar and a song-telling style close to poetic performance.
