Jay Park

Born in Edmonds, Washington, and connected to the Seattle scene, Jay Park, whose real name is Park Jae-beom, first developed his career in breakdancing with the crew Art of Movement before going to South Korea as a trainee and debuting in 2008 as the leader of the group 2PM. After leaving the group in 2009, he relaunched his solo career in 2010, initially with covers released online, then moving more clearly toward contemporary R&B, Korean hip-hop and bilingual urban pop in both English and Korean. His writing and performance rely on melodic tracks, R&B choruses and rap flows that are more supple than showy. Among his releases are the EP Take a Deeper Look (2011) and the albums New Breed (2012), Evolution (2014), Worldwide (2015), Everything You Wanted (2016) and The Road Less Traveled (2019). A prominent figure in the South Korean hip-hop and R&B scenes, he frequently works with producer Cha Cha Malone and founded several ventures that reflect this evolution: AOMG in 2013, H1ghr Music in 2017 and More Vision in 2022. Jay Park divides his activity between music, production, television and label development.
