Kwoon

Led by French guitarist and composer Sandy Lavallart, Kwoon has, since the mid-2000s, occupied a post-rock realm that blends ambient, atmospheric rock and acoustic touches. Kwoon is characterized by often long, narrative pieces built on progressive rises in tension, melodic guitar layers, string arrangements and sparse vocal interventions, all in service of cinematic moods. The first album, 'Tales and Dreams', released in the 2000s, set the foundations for this dreamlike writing; 'When The Flowers Were Singing...' subsequently expanded the field toward more progressive forms and more developed structures. In the early 2010s, the EP 'The Guillotine Show' explores a darker, more concentrated side of Kwoon's sound, while retaining the taste for slow atmospheres and the contrasts between melodic fragility and electric intensity.
