Krys

Positioned at the crossroads of francophone Caribbean dancehall and reggae, Krys — born Kevin Bonnet — hails from Guadeloupe, where he first made a name for himself in local sound systems in the early 2000s. Gradually he moved from mixtapes and early singles circulating across the archipelago to club and festival stages in France, developing a style that alternates between Creole and French, features rapid phrasing and melodic choruses close to urban pop. From the mid-2000s onward the artist explored various shades of dancehall — from party cuts to slower, more vocal-driven tracks and forays into hip-hop — while broadening collaborations with the Antillean scene and several Jamaican vocalists. Splitting his time between the Antilles and the mainland, Krys alternates studio work and concerts within Caribbean circuits and general venues, and in the early 2020s the track “God Bless” marked a return to the forefront of francophone dancehall coverage.
