happysad
Formed in 2001 in Skarżysko-Kamienna, Poland, happysad plays guitar-driven alternative rock characterized by direct, melodic songwriting, often energetic performances and—at times—touches of reggae, pop rock and fuller arrangements. The band adopted its current name in 2002 after initial monikers and released its debut album, Wszystko jedno, in 2004, followed by Podróże z i pod prąd (2005) and Nieprzygoda (2007). Over the years happysad has evolved its lineup and sound, notably adding percussionist Jarosław Dubiński in 2006 and later incorporating keyboards and brass into concerts and recordings. Their discography continued with Mów mi dobrze (2009), Ciepło/Zimno (2012), Jakby nie było jutra (2014), Ciało obce (2017), Rekordowo letnie lato (2019) and Pierwsza prosta (2024). Highly active on the Polish live scene, happysad has played many cities and festivals, including Jarocin and Przystanek Woodstock (later Pol’and’Rock), developing a repertoire that alternates between urgent tracks, more restrained tempos and lyrics rooted in everyday life. happysad remains associated with a Polish rock scene that emerged in the early 2000s and has maintained a lasting presence on the concert circuit.
