Hang Massive

Hang Massive was born in 2010 from a meeting in India between British musician Danny Cudd and Swedish player Markus Johansson, also known as Markus Offbeat. The duo, usually associated with the UK, creates music that sits between ambient, new age and world music, centred on the hang and on a playing style that blends gentle pulse, repetitive motifs and long resonances. Hang Massive emerged in the early 2010s thanks to the rapid online circulation of their recordings and a busy international live schedule, with concerts in numerous countries. Their discography includes several acknowledged albums, notably Beats For Your Feet (2012), As It Is (2013), Distant Light (2015), Celestial Colour (2017) and Luminous Emptiness (2018). The project has also featured, depending on the tracks and versions, a few collaborators and remixers, without abandoning its basic duo form. Over time Hang Massive has developed a stripped-down, contemplative aesthetic in which composition relies less on song than on texture, repetition and the interweaving of two instruments.
