Gallowstreet

Formed in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Gallowstreet combines a brass section and a drum kit in a format close to an urban brass band, oriented toward a blend of instrumental hip‑hop, funk, jazz and dance music. Active since the mid‑2010s, Gallowstreet first made its mark live — performing on the street as well as in clubs and festivals — with a sound designed for collective energy rather than individual showmanship. Their music rests on trumpet and trombone riffs, sousaphone lines that approach electronic bass, and drum grooves informed by both hip‑hop and house, linking the group to modern brass bands as well as electronic scenes. The first full‑length album, Battleplan (2016), represented a step toward original songwriting, followed by Our Dear Metropolis (2020), which deepened their work on arrangements and cinematic atmospheres while retaining Gallowstreet’s strong live focus.
