LGMX

Born in Lyon around 2017 under the name Le Grand Mix before becoming LGMX, the collective develops an acoustic techno formula that transposes the codes of house, trance and brass music into a brass and percussion fanfare. The formation, with variable geometry but designed for the stage in a large ensemble, was first built on the street and in the wake of Nuits Sonores, before widening its playing field to venues and festivals. LGMX works with repetitive motifs, buildups and relaunches borrowed from electronic music, without machines, relying on a tight dialogue between trumpets, trombones, baritone sax, sousaphone, drums and percussion. After beginnings marked by covers and re-adaptations, the group progressively developed its own repertoire. This evolution takes shape with the album Acoustic Rave in 2021, then with tracks like Trancelation in 2023, Earthquake, Hexadecimal Night Fever and Gopnik mazurka in 2024, before the album Opening in the same year. LGMX thus sits within a French scene where fanfare formats intersect club aesthetics, with a collective approach centered on live energy and the writing of arrangements.
