I Muvrini

Formed in the late 1970s in Haute‑Corse around brothers Jean‑François and Alain Bernardini, I Muvrini belong to the family continuity of the island’s traditional singing, inherited from their father Ghjuliu Bernardini. The group initially developed a repertoire rooted in Corsican polyphony and sacred songs, before gradually incorporating elements of folk, chanson and so‑called “world” music. Voices remain at the heart of the project, with a marked use of the Corsican language, sometimes mixed with French, in lyrics that evoke attachment to the island, cultural transmission and more contemporary themes. Over the decades, I Muvrini moved from local Corsican stages to tours in France and across Europe, multiplying occasional collaborations with artists from the chanson and world‑music scenes. The lineup, flexible around the Bernardini core, alternates between studio recordings and live captures, maintaining a balance between a traditional vocal foundation and arrangements open to pop and current sounds, which allows I Muvrini to perform in regional music circuits, general venues and international festivals.
