Ferran Palau
Based in Collbató since childhood, Catalan musician and composer Ferran Palau has built a career tied to the Catalan independent scene since the early 2000s. He first appeared as part of Anímic, the band founded in 2003 with Louise Sansom, before embarking on a solo path in 2012 with L’aigua del rierol. Palau’s repertoire begins in intimate folk and singer‑songwriter writing, then gradually shifts toward a more minimal, muted and contemplative indie pop—sometimes described as a form of metaphysical pop and by the artist himself as ‘easy-loving’. This evolution is reflected in a steady discography, from Santa Ferida (2015) and Blanc (2018) to Kevin (2019), Cel Clar (2020), Parc (2021), Joia (2021) and Plora aquí (2024). He has also developed collaborative work with El Petit de Cal Eril, and later with Jordi Matas and Sr. Chen, accompanying a purer sound of calm melodies, light textures and a visual imagination often nourished by cinema of the 1980s and 1990s. In 2026 Ferran Palau released Aniversari feliç, co-produced with Jordi Matas, in a drumless format where strings and winds take a more prominent role.
