Emis Killa

Born in 1989 in Vimercate, near Milan, Emis Killa, whose real name is Emiliano Giambelli, emerged in the late 2000s on the Italian rap scene by winning freestyle battles such as Tecniche Perfette. Coming from the Lombard underground hip‑hop scene, Emis Killa initially spread his lyrics via mixtapes and then built his career around Italian-language rap that blends direct storytelling, images of provincial life and references to popular culture. His first studio album, "L’erba cattiva" (2012), moved him from a niche audience to a wider public, followed by "Mercurio" (2013), which consolidated a balance between classic rap sonics and more melodic choruses. With "Terza stagione" (2016) and "Supereroe" (2018), Emis Killa increased the influence of trap and more contemporary aesthetics, alternating introspective tracks with more blunt, high-energy songs. The collaborative project "17" with Jake La Furia in 2020 reaffirmed his roots in Milanese street rap, while "Effetto notte" (2023) leans more toward a cinematic atmosphere. Alongside his discography, Emis Killa has taken part in various TV formats related to rap in Italy and published an autobiographical book, extending the themes already present in his lyrics into publishing and media.
