El Tri

Born in Mexico in the early 1980s as the direct continuation of Three Souls in My Mind, El Tri was built around Álex Lora, singer, guitarist and principal songwriter of a repertoire rooted in rock and roll, blues rock, Mexican rock urbano and Latin rock. The shift from Three Souls in My Mind to El Tri also marked a clearer commitment to Spanish and to songs that observe daily life, the street, politics, migration and precarity with a direct and often ironic tone. After Simplemente (1984), El Tri released albums such as Hecho en México (1985), Niño sin amor (1986), Cuando tú no estás (1997), Fin de siglo (1998) and No podemos volar (2000), while developing a strong live presence in Mexico, Latin America and the United States. The band has also recorded several live albums, an MTV Unplugged released in 2004, and symphonic projects that broaden its format without abandoning its rock core. Notable collaborations include Carlos Santana on “Virgen Morena” and Miguel Ríos on “Madre Tierra”. Always centered on Álex Lora’s voice and songwriting despite numerous lineup changes, El Tri continued its discography with Ojo por ojo (2013), Queremos Rockear (2019), Que chingón (2022) and Yo quiero ser tu celular (2024).
