Eini

Born in Pello in Finnish Lapland, Eini, whose full name is Eini Hannele Pajumäki, emerged on the Finnish music scene in the late 1970s with 'Yes sir, alkaa polttaa', a Finnish adaptation of Baccara's 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie'. After teenage beginnings in the group Sailons and a move to Helsinki, Eini built a repertoire between disco, pop and iskelmä (the Finnish variety song), placing emphasis on adaptations, straightforward melodies and danceable rhythms. Her early albums Eini (1978), Laululintunen (1979), Eini & Lady (1981), Jossakin jos haluat (1982) and Aika pakkaus (1983) established this direction, continued by songs such as 'Kesä ja yö', 'Xanadu', 'Haloo hela Finland' and 'Olen neitsyt'. In the 1980s several of Eini's recordings were linked to lyrics by Raul Reiman and productions by Jori Sivonen. Her career then moved toward a sound closer to traditional iskelmä in the late 1980s and during the 1990s, before returning to a more dance-oriented aesthetic in the 2000s and 2010s with Mä jään (2011), Vähän kipeää (2014), Draamaa (2016), Vihdoin valmis (2020), Pimeän jälkeen (2023) and Mun vuosi (2025). On stage, Eini has toured with Boogie and later Kuumaa kamaa, taken part in Finnhits tours and competed in UMK 2016 with 'Draamaa'.
