Anne Mattila

Born in Karvia, Finland, Anne Mattila belongs to the iskelmä tradition, the Finnish popular song associated with dance orchestras, with a style that blends schlager, melodic pop and dance repertoire. She appeared on stage very young, from childhood, and sang in local ensembles before beginning her recording career in the late 1990s with Tunteita riittää (1999). Her career gained momentum in the early 2000s with the albums Anne Mattila (2002) and Enkeleitä onko heitä (2003), followed by Perutaan häät (2005), Kaikki muu voi mennä (2009), where she began to publish more of her own compositions, and later Kuivaa koivua (2016) and Tie jonka sydän valitsee (2023). Active on festival stages and within the Finnish iskelmä circuit, Anne Mattila works with her own orchestra and also develops a parallel activity as a songwriter for herself and other performers. She has also recorded with her sisters, who are likewise singers, in a familial, acoustic register, while maintaining a recognized practice as a painter outside of music.
